Homemade Lavender Glaze for your Sweet Summer Desserts
One of the things we love most about lavender is how we can incorporate it into so many different recipes and how it adds an elevated flavor, depth, and profile to our foods. Lavender is one of those unmistakable flavors that makes a dish taste unique and refined - leaving your palate wanting more! This month, we are excited to share our simple lavender glaze recipe that can be used to enhance any of your classic desserts. This 4-ingredient, no fuss glaze tastes like you are a chef extraordinaire and can be added to any sweet for that little extra je n’ais se quoi (French for: pleasing quality that cannot be exactly named or described) that you and your friends & family will love!
We like to drizzle this icing on store-bought cinnamon rolls to give it a personal “homemade” touch, over lemon bundt cakes, cake doughnuts, and even on breakfast scones. It is the perfect addition to accentuate any dessert.
1 cup powdered sugar
3 tsps of milk or water (may need more or less depending on desired consistency)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp of ground lavender buds from culinary lavender (grind in spice or coffee grinder)
In a bowl, combine the powdered sugar, lavender, milk (or water), and vanilla extract. Stir together with a whisk. You may add more milk / water until it reaches the desired consistency.
Spoon the glaze over the dessert of your choice and enjoy!
