April: Spring into Family Time!

Spring time is here! During this time of year, we spend hours preparing our lavender fields, tending our lavender seedlings, and making sure everything is ready for the planting season. Our spring this year has been rather unpredictable – as Midwest weather tends to be - but no amount of rain (and even snow!) can hold us back from getting our farm ready! Preparing the fields and working on the farm is certainly a family affair. It’s all hands-on deck around here and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Spending time as a family out on the farm is one of our favorite things to do, but we also like to set aside time off the farm to be together as well.

April is a special month for me because it is also my birthday month, April 1st, to be exact. This year, my birthday fell on Easter so it was lovely to just spend time with family and enjoy each other’s company. We went to church and spent the day together. It’s always around my birthday that I am simply thankful for all the people in my life and the love I have for them. Spending quality time with the ones I love is priceless and makes the best memories – enriching my life more than anything else could.

Spending time with family and the ones you love is free and doesn’t have to be extravagant to be special. Over the years, I’ve learned some of our favorite family activities have simply revolved around singing songs, reading books together, playing music, and even working side by side on the farm.  I like to share how my family likes to spend time together, because I like to give ideas to other families! Other ways that we enjoy spending time together include:

Going to concerts. Whether it’s a free local concert or a big event at the Sprint Center. My family and I love going to concerts. It’s such a fun way to bring everyone together to just sing and dance. Those make some of the best memories!

Getting ice cream. When mother nature grants us with some warm weather, we love to go and get ice cream as a family. It’s fun to make a trip of it and all pick out our favorite flavors!

Spring cleaning. This might not be fun for everyone, but sometimes it’s nice to go through our old things and find what we still need and what things we can donate. This helps us be grateful for our blessings.

Going to church. Going to church as a family creates such a special bond between our family. It’s nice to spend time at church together in a place of peace and worship.

What things do you enjoy doing with your family in the spring?

Hugs,
Christina
