Lavender Moscow Mule

One of our favorite cocktails is the Moscow Mule. A bit of citrus from the lime and spicy, sweetness from the ginger beer is the perfect combination to kick back and relax after a long day. We may be biased, but we love to add lavender simple syrup to our Moscow Mules to give them an unexpected flare!

Lavender is the perfect complement to this already tasty drink as it accentuates the citrusy flavor of lime and the spiciness of ginger. Plus, the additional added sweetness of simple syrup gives this cocktail a pinch of sweetness.

To make this tasty drink at home, here is what you need:

For the simple syrup

  • 2 tbsp dried culinary lavender
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

For the cocktail

  • Juice from ½ a lime, plus wedge for garnish
  • Ginger Beer
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 tbsp lavender simple syrup
  • Ice
  • Copper Mug (optional)

For the simple syrup
In a sauce pan over medium heat, pour in water, sugar and lavender. Stir together until completely combined. The mixture may become thick which is just fine. Strain the syrup through a mesh strainer or cheese cloth to remove lavender buds. Transfer into a jar and store in the fridge until cool.

For the cocktail
Fill a copper mug to the brim with ice. Squeeze lime juice over ice, lavender simple syrup and vodka. Pour ginger beer over the top until mug is just about full. Stir. Garnish with lime. Enjoy!
