How to Detox and Relax with Lavender Lemonade

Fresh pressed juice is a great way to get your daily servings of fruits and vegetables. These magical elixirs are packed full of vitamins and minerals and many health benefits. In recent years, I’ve noticed more juice recipes incorporating herbs into juices – not only for the flavor but for the healing perks.    This made me wonder how beneficial it would be to add lavender into a health elixir to extract all of its benefits. I already knew that just the smell of lavender alone has the ability to promote relaxation, restful sleep, and to help de-stress – so I knew I had to try lavender juiced into a drink for even more benefits. I decided to mix lavender, mint and lemons together to make lavender, mint lemonade. This drink is also delicious as an infused water over ice, but I decided to sweeten it up a bit and add 1 tsp of raw cane sugar. This healthy mint lavender lemonade is a relaxing and detoxifying juice that not only provides me with calming and digestive benefits, but also tastes amazing. This delicious lavender lemonade uses mint, lavender, lemons, raw cane sugar (optional), and fresh water. To make the drink, all you need is a juicer. If you don’t have a juicer, all you need is a blender and some mesh cheesecloth / fine strainer to strain out the larger pieces of lavender, mint, and lemon pulp. Ingredients:    1 peeled lemon, quartered    2 springs of fresh lavender    1 sprig of fresh mint    12 oz of fresh water    1 tsp of raw cane sugar Directions: For the Juicer Using a juicer, press one quarter of the lemon through the juicing chamber – followed by one sprig of lavender, another quarter of lemon, another sprig of lavender, another quarter of lemon, and finally with the sprig of mint and final piece of lemon (alternating the lemon and herbs helps the herbs to juice more fully and squeeze out more essence).   Pour the juiced lemons and herbs into a glass and mix with 1 tsp of raw cane sugar and 12oz of fresh water. For the Blender In a blender, place the peeled lemon, lavender sprigs and mint sprigs. Pour in 12 oz of water and blend until combined. Using a mesh strainer or cheese cloth, pour the mixture into a glass removing the larger chunks. Add 1 tsp of sugar and stir. Enjoy!   Christina
