It’s Fall! Slowdown and Take Time for You

Fall is officially underway here at the Sweet Streams Lavender farm! Harvest is winding down, the air is beginning to become crisp and cool, and a season of rest is upon our family. During the fall and winter, our lavender plants say farewell to their blooms and return to the earth as they prepare for colder temperatures. At this time, we wrap up the final to-dos our lavender plants need from us, and craft the final round of small-batch products the lavender yield has provided for the year. We love the fall as it provides us time to focus on our family’s foundation, allows us a period to concentrate on the future of our farm, and gives me permission to take back some me time! For us, fall is an important period of rest. Oftentimes in the summer, it feels as if things are non-stop: kids are home, tending to the field, events, careers - there never really seems to be time to take a break. Although life keeps going in the fall, there is something natural about winding down it’s as if Mother Nature is giving us permission to quiet ourselves and return inward for a few months. Family dinners take precedence around a big, warm pot of chili and we are able to connect on how our days went and support each other in our goals. I love to retire for the evening cozied up with a good book and one our lavender scented candles. My night ends with a cup of Sereni-tea in a bubble bath using our lavender infused bath salts. It feels so good to be able to take a moment of rest to prepare for the busy days that will once again return, especially around the Holidays! I hope you find some time to reconnect and also find time for you as fall returns to the Midwest. What are some of your favorite ways to wind down as the weather gets cooler? Let us know and tag us on IG or Facebook and tell us what fall means to you.    Hugs, Christina
