Business Tip Tuesday: How to Build Your Brand

This month’s business tip is all about building your brand. As an entrepreneur, I know it can be complicated when you’re trying to make a name for yourself and enter into a marketplace. Deciding how you will be perceived by the public and your customers, what your company image looks like, and defining your Company purpose. A recent article I read, published by Shopify, wrote out a nice list of how to build your brand in seven steps. As a fellow business owner, I thought this was a nice outline of how to start building your brand: 1. Research your target audience and your competitors. 2. Pick your focus and personality. 3. Choose your business name. 4. Write your slogan. 5. Choose the look of your brand (colors and font). 6. Design your logo. 7. Apply your branding across your business and evolve it as you grow. I love this list because it is a great starting point to help you focus on your brand identity. There is so much information available about how to build your brand and how to be successful and I think it is best to keep it simple at first. Too much detail in the beginning stages can cause “analysis paralysis”. Keep it simple and outline all your big ideas up front. Once you have the big pieces sorted start filling in all the other details (such as social media presence, content planning, etc.) and the process will be much smoother! Ultimately, no one will know your brand better than you and it’s important to communicate your brand’s mission, style, and purpose so the consumer knows your brand just as well. Strong brand identity leads to loyal customers and brand ambassadors who can identify with your brand and really believe in your mission.   I hope you found this month’s business tip helpful as you embark on your entrepreneurial journey or forward to a friend that may be branching out and starting a new venture! As always, I’m rooting for you! Christina
